There is still a long way to go before truly carbon-neutral flying becomes a reality. Even the ambitious EU legislation currently foresees a blend of only 70% sustainable aviation fuels with fossil kerosene by 2050. To accelerate the reduction of aviation emissions, Solarbelt is working to advance the industrialization of sustainable aviation fuels. You can support this effort by making a small contribution towards the further development of sustainable aviation fuels when booking a flight, or, as a travel company, by offering our Climate Action Packages directly through your booking process. Travel Companies
Through our sister organization atmosfair, we offer customized Climate Action Packages that can be integrated directly into your booking process. By offering these packages, your customers support the production and development of e-kerosene, the expansion of renewable energy in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as well as climate education in German schools. In this way, they can make a tangible contribution to more sustainable aviation. For example, 500 customers can collectively finance the evaluation of a new biomass feedstock for SAF production with a project value of €20,000.

As a travel company, you can amplify the contributions of your customers by matching every euro they donate with a contribution of your own - we call this a Future Team. By adding your company’s support, you significantly increase the impact of your customers’ contributions. For example, an additional corporate contribution of €20,000 can enable a comprehensive on-site feasibility and location assessment in a developing country.

If you would like to take an active role in climate protection, we offer several ways for you to support our work. The easiest option is through our sister organization atmosfair, where you can make a direct contribution to the further development of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Alternatively, you can add one of our Climate Action Packages to your journey. More than 95% of your contribution is guaranteed to go directly into a balanced portfolio of climate projects developed by Solarbelt and atmosfair, supporting our joint efforts to advance climate protection. Of course, you can also continue to offset your flight emissions through traditional climate protection projects.

Supporting Sustainable Fuels - Example: Early-Stage Development Support for Biomass-to-Liquid Projects
The technologies currently being developed by Solarbelt have not yet been industrialized or commercialized. Together with our project partners in developing countries, we therefore actively develop pilot-scale projects. These projects are essential for demonstrating the technical and economic feasibility of producing innovative fuels under local conditions and for reducing the risks associated with larger commercial-scale facilities. Only then will greater levels of private investment flow into scaling these technologies and enabling the rapid deployment of sustainable fuels. While each project differs depending on location, partners, and technology, most follow a number of common development stages. With your contribution, you can help finance some of these key development activities. The example below illustrates the typical steps involved in developing a Biomass-to-Liquid pilot project and the associated costs.
